The Water Palace and Jantar Mantar

The water palace was built on dry land. The family wanted it to appear to float, so it was built, the area dug out, a damn released to flood the valley so that there was a lake surrounding the palace. It has been purchased by a hotel and they are planning to make it part of the hotel complex.

Jantar Mantar - this is a huge park built as an astronomy and astrology center. The small sundial (with Eric's watch) is accurate within 10 seconds. The builder was not happy with that. He built a larger one that is accurate within 2 seconds. If you have an opportunity to visit this, you should. Read up on it if nothing else.

The world's largest sundial- accurate within two seconds.

Peacock feathers being sold on the street outside the Jantar Mantar complex.

  1. Interesting! My dad used to design sundials (until he was 81 years old). It is a very complex process.
